SUPSI Project Manager

The Institute for Applied Sustainability to the Built Environment (ISAAC) promotes the energy transition process.

The Institute’s distinctive transversal themes are:

  • decentralisation of electricity production from renewable sources (photovoltaics)
  • decarbonisation in the built environment and in mobility
  • digitalisation in electricity management (smart grids), and in building construction and maintenance procedures (Building Information Modeling)
  • democratisation of energy by way of the prosumer, and involvement in technological choices and in their utilisation in real-life conditions (living lab)

Research projects are based on a variety of regularly-revised methods, and benefit from productive collaboration agreements with other research units, public bodies, non-governmental organisations and industries.  The Institute promotes technological transfer in a number of developing countries.

Alyona Zubaryeva

EURAC Project Manager

The institute for renewable energy conducts applied research on advanced energy systems, based on or including sustainable energy sources.

Its activities include national and international research projects, as well as direct cooperation with industry partners. Industry-related projects normally involve the development of new products and the evaluation of technological solutions. The institute also supports the promotion of renewable energy technologies and assists political decision-makers the scientific consultancy.

The institute’s research involves the extensive use of dynamic simulations and multiphysics modelling of advanced energy systems and buildings.

Scientific results are based on laboratory tests of single components and integrated energy systems, as well as the monitoring of applied demonstration sites, experimental outdoor installations and residential buildings. The institute offers support also in the elaboration of complex energy models as decision support system for single energy systems or buildings as well as for urban and regional areas.

Ferdinand Aicher

AICO Project Manager

The company focused on commercial software development and customization, primarily in the SME realm. From 1981 to 2001 AICO was an IBM cooperation partner.

Since 2002 AICO focuses on embedded systems and reusable software components. The development of core technologies became increasingly important, including real time communication and open software architectures. This resulted in cooperations with innovative software companies and research institutes, project management for the production of embedded systems in close cooperation with specialists from telecommunication industry.

Today AICO offers design and development of embedded systems and reusable software components, furthermore, comprehensive development support, in particular on prototype solutions and system architecture design. Recently on remote and automated testing of APP integration quality.
